You might have probably thought that all vegetables are good. The growing demand for food has created unhealthy vegetable options. There are three veggies you need to avoid.

1. Non-Organic Spinach
Organic spinach is different from conventional spinach. Non-organic spinach is a vegetable with little nutritional value grown using pesticides. Conventional spinach has up to 50 different pesticides when being purchased. Organic spinach is rich in vitamin A and K.

2. Vegetables Prepared in Creamy Sauces
It seems more convenient to warm up a bag of frozen vegetables. There are several ingredients in a bag of “lightly sauced” vegetables, which include:

Corn Oil, Citric Acid, , Yeast Extract, Dry Mustard, Food Starch-Modified, Dry Buttermilk, Sweet Cream Powder, Maltodextrin, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Caseinate, Wheat Flour, Mono and Diglycerides, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherols and Ascorbyl Palmitate to (Help Protect Flavor), Guar Gum, Sodium Phosphate.

The list is VERY long and some words are difficult to pronounce. The trick in packaging is called “light” sauced. All the harmful ingredients made to keep the creamy sauce from spoiling are consumed.

3. Canned Tomatoes
They are bad for our health. The major challenge is the packaging .Bisphenol-a (BPA) is a harmful chemical that coats the lining of cans. Canned tomatoes are dangerous due to high acidity. The BPA is drawn into the food from the lining. What about BPA-free cans? Consumer demand dropped due to the risks posed by BPA. Companies removed the BPA from their packaging. However, it was replaced with BPS, which is a harmful chemical. It is a false promise despite cans being labelled BPA- free. I highly recommend the use of natural products like glass and stainless steel.

Asparagus
Cauliflower
Sweet Potatoes
Onions
Green & Red Cabbage
Brussels sprouts
Beet green
